Pitch Green

Kayaking along shore with a glacier across the bay—
a moose calf and her mother browse among birches near a cabin—
crackle of twigs underfoot—
copper chimes sway under wisteria along a porch—
a plum begins to bud—
waterproofing the inside of a water tank,
he dizzies and climbs out—
when she falls asleep on his shoulder—
scent of piñon needles after rain—
