What They Gon Say When
By CM Burroughs
I am not married and don’t want married and don’t
want nobody, no other body up in my space? They
gon laugh. They gon laugh
and condescend like my ex did when he wanted to
get back together, said, “You think you got it all
figured out.” I hope they laugh, say, “Shoot, you got
the right idea! Child, you on the right track! Girl,
the grief you have missed!” I barely miss anything.
And I got elec-tronic pleasure buzzers do whatever I
want long as they charged. Lord, the times they
gone dead on me. Like I told Toi, and she laughed
and said, “I’m your mama!” But laughed when I
kept clowning, was the longest conversation she
ever had over text, she said, “We’re in this shit
together!”
