Aisa Akootchook Warden
Aisa Warden (formerly known as Allison Akootchook Warden) is an Iñupiaq poet and interdisciplinary artist. She is a tribal member of the Native Village of Kaktovik.
Warden was a featured poet at the 2024 Arctic-Nordic Small Languages Writers Festival in Nuuk, Greenland, and was a featured poet at the 2023 Titiraqtat Inuit Circumpolar Writers Festival, Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada. Also in 2023, she read "we acknowledge ourselves" at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, in Stuttgart, Germany as part of the Center for Native Arts and Cultures: Convenings on Land Rematriation. In 2022, four of her poems were part of “Insidious Rising,” a Hyphen-Labs project for Google Arts & Culture.
Warden is a past Djerassi Resident Artist Program fellow and was the recipient of a 2019 United States Artists Fellowship in Traditional Arts.
In 2023, Warden moved from Alaska to the Texas panhandle.
